Arlington: Volunteers needed to serve city

The city of Arlington is looking for volunteers to fill vacancies on the airport commission and library board.

The airport commission and library board provide advice to the mayor and City Council. The airport commission has seven members, each serving a three-year term, who meet monthly at the Arlington Municipal Airport office.

The library board represents the city of Arlington by advising Sno-Isle Libraries on policies for the development of the library’s collection and the services provided. The board has five members, each serving a five-year term.

Interested people who live within the Arlington city limits can get an application at www.arlingtonwa.gov; at City Hall, 238 N. Olympic Ave.; at the airport office, 18204 59th Ave. NE; or by calling 360-403-3441.

Camano Island: Garden talk tonight

Learn how to entice butterflies and hummingbirds into your garden during a program featuring Bob Barca, master gardener and owner of Hummingbird Hill.

The Camano Wildlife Habitat Project presentation is set for 7 tonight at the Camano Multipurpose Center, 141 N. East Camano Drive.

Darrington: Center needs volunteer help

The Darrington Community Center Board of Directors is looking for more volunteers to help keep the center open.

Granite Falls: City has hearing on annexation

A hearing on a proposed addition to the city is scheduled for tonight.

The hearing on the Mountain Loop industrial annexation is scheduled for a meeting of the City Council at 7 tonight at City Hall, 206 S. Granite Ave.

The 5.29-acre annexation at 10404 Mountain Loop Highway is proposed by the owner of FSX Inc., a business that cleans diesel engine filters.

Owner Cole Waldo hopes to expand his business to the annexation site. Four lots altogether are included in the annexation plan. The lots are designated for residential use under current Snohomish County zoning.

Stanwood: Signups set for kindergarten

Kindergarten registration begins March 1 at all Stanwood-Camano School District elementary schools.

Kindergarten readiness nights are: 5:30-7 p.m. March 2 at Elger Bay Elementary; 4-6 p.m. March 4 at Twin City Elementary; 6-7 p.m. March 4 at Stanwood Elementary; and 6-8 p.m. March 4 at Cedarhome and Utsalady elementary schools.
