Overturned semi in Everett snarled traffic for hours Friday

Crews worked late into the night to get the trailer upright again. No injuries were reported.

EVERETT — A section of Highway 527 was closed for hours Friday due to an overturned semi-truck.

The truck crashed in the afternoon and shut down all lanes between SE Everett Mall Parkway and El Capitan Way, causing heavy traffic jams during rush hour.

Crews worked late into the night to get the trailer upright again. The Washington State Department of Ecology also responded, as corrosive material carried in the truck spilled onto soil at the scene.

In a tweet posted shortly after 3 a.m., Everett police updated that the vehicle had been safely removed.

No injuries were reported.
