SILVANA – A 48-year-old Marysville man suffered minor injuries when the airplane he was flying crash-landed Saturday night in a field near Silvana, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
The man reportedly took off from the Arlington Airport about 7 p.m. in his single-engine airplane. The plane had mechanical problems, forcing the man to land in the field near the 21800 block of Pioneer Highway, according to the sheriff’s office.
Steering was difficult, so the plane reportedly descended at a steep angle. The landing gear dug into the soft ground, causing the plane to flip when it landed.
Nearby residents pulled the pilot out of the severely damaged aircraft. He declined medical treatment, the sheriff’s office said.
The Federal Aviation Administration is planning a follow-up investigation.
