FAIRBANKS, Alaska — A Fairbanks pawn shop employee is facing a reckless endangerment charge after a gun was fired into the store ceiling by a 3-year-old boy.
According to the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner, prosecutors say Jaclyn Johnson, 25, failed to pay attention while her 1-year-old son took hold of her revolver and passed it to the other child at AK Fast Cash.
A criminal complaint says video surveillance and a witness account show Johnson’s son picked up Johnson’s Smith &Wesson .38 special revolver from a shelf while Johnson used her cellphone. It says the 1-year-old then passed the gun to a customer’s 3-year-old son, who fired one shot into the ceiling.
No one was hurt in April’s incident. Charges were delayed pending an investigation into who actually owned the gun.
