SANDPOINT, Idaho — Northern Idaho authorities say a 27-year-old man opened fire on a sheriff’s deputy during a vehicle pursuit and then escaped on foot.
The Bonner County Sheriff’s Office in a statement Tuesday says Patrick Geaudreau, of Oldtown, Idaho, was a passenger in a vehicle late Monday when he fired at and struck a deputy’s vehicle. The deputy wasn’t injured.
Authorities say the maroon Jeep Grand Cherokee crossed into Washington state and drove south to Spring Valley. Police say the vehicle crashed through a fence and travelled through a field before getting stuck in a creek bed. The two occupants fled on foot.
An all-night search failed to find them.
Police say only Geaudreau has been identified, and both suspects are considered armed and dangerous.
