TULALIP – The operators of an inflatable slide that collapsed last week at the Tulalip Casino, injuring nine people, may not have been following the company’s safety guidelines.
Tulalip Tribes police are investigating the accident, which occurred Friday at the casino during a carnival the tribe sponsored to show its appreciation for casino employees and their families. Seven people were hospitalized with minor injuries and two others refused treatment, officials said.
Their conditions were unavailable because of federal privacy laws.
The Titanic inflatable slide and other carnival rides were set up near the casino. As soon as the accident occurred, authorities shut down the carnival, tribal Police Chief Jay Goss said Wednesday.
“We photographed every safety rule on the ride, and we’re not satisfied that they followed their own guidelines,” he said.
Upon completion, Goss plans to send his report to the Snohomish County prosecutor for review. He asked the families of all of those on the ride when it collapsed to call his department at 360-651-4608.
No one from the company that operated the carnival returned a call seeking comment.
