EVERETT – Republican Kim Halvorson, owner of a medical devices company and a founding board member of the Tulalip Community Association, starts her quest for the state House of Representatives on Wednesday with a fund-raiser at the Everett Yacht Club.
Halvorson is trying to unseat Rep. John McCoy, D-Tulalip, from Position 1 in the 38th Legislative District. McCoy won the seat in 2002 and is seeking re-election. This is Halvorson’s first run for public office.
The kickoff begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Yacht Club located on the 14th Street dock in Everett. The event is free; campaign donations will be accepted.

Lovick launches re-election bid Friday
MILL CREEK – State Rep. John Lovick, D-Mill Creek, formally kicks off his re-election campaign Friday when he cooks Cajun deep-fried turkey at a dinner fund-raiser at his home.
Lovick, a 30-year veteran with the Washington State Patrol, is seeking a fourth term in the state House of Representatives. He holds Position 2 in the 44th Legislative District and last legislative session served as speaker pro-tem.
Ron Logan, a Republican and research software design engineer for Microsoft, is the only announced challenger. Candidates do not have to officially file nomination papers until next month.
Lovick’s event begins at 6 p.m. at 2403 157th Place SE in Mill Creek. The event is free; campaign donations will be accepted.
