Prom dress giveaway set for April 14

Hundreds of donated prom dresses and accessories will be available free for selection by junior and senior high school girls at the Royal Enchantments prom dress giveaway, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 14 at the North Everett Boys &Girls Club, 2316 12th St., Everett.

Lynnwood program teaches teens skills

Young people between the ages of 12 and 15 have the opportunity to gain life-saving and swim instruction skills through the Lynnwood Aquatic Volunteer Program.

Trained students can build community service hours as junior lifeguards and swim instructor aides at the Lynnwood Pool, where they can take advantage of free use of the recreational center facilities.

Boy Scouts seek new stuffed animals

Boy Scout Troop 112 is working on an Eagle project and is looking for community support.

Through April 4, there is a drop box at the downtown Everett Public Library, 2702 Hoyt Ave., where those who wish to contribute may drop off new stuffed animals.

All the toys collected by the troop will be donated to local nonprofit organizations that help young children who are victims of crimes and abuse. For more information, e-mail prescottchristopher@yahoo.com.

Toys available for giveaway to kids

The Multiple Sclerosis Helping Hands Donor Closet of Snohomish County recently collected hundreds of recycled toys to be sent to children who survived Hurricane Katrina.

However, most agencies there only will accept new toys.

The recycled toys are available to any organization that will help the Donor Closet get the items to children who would enjoy having them. Call Bill Brayer at the MSHH Donor Closet at 206-718-0894.

Arboretum seeking chair for committee

Evergreen Arboretum and Gardens in Everett is seeking to fill a new committee chairmanship. Needed is someone who can develop an arboretum garden tour guide program and help craft the training for the volunteer guides. For more information, call 425-257-8597.

Clothes for Kids needs cash, shoes

Clothes for Kids, a nonprofit organization providing free clothing to low-income families in Snohomish County, is seeking financial support and donations of new athletic shoes, socks and underwear for school-age children and teens.

This is an opportunity for corporations, local businesses, clubs, youth groups and individuals to support families in need.

Garden club offers $750 scholarship

The Alderwood Garden Club is offering a $750 scholarship to a student in a horticulture-related field.

Applicants need to be graduating high school seniors in the Edmonds School District or enrolled in or planning to enroll in the Edmonds Community College horticulture program.
