EDMONDS — Police were investigating a report of a racist attack Sunday night at an Edmonds bar.
A mother posted on Facebook that her children were taking pictures outside Harvey’s Lounge for a school project, when a man associated with the lounge saw them and chased them with a bat. In a post written at 9:20 p.m. Sunday, she claimed the man directed racial slurs at the kids.
Edmonds police said they were looking into the incident in the 21100 block of Highway 99. The bar owner cooperated with investigators, Sgt. Josh McClure wrote in a press release.
“The concerns expressed by the reporting party are being looked at thoroughly to include the viewing of surveillance footage from the business with the priority to determine if a crime has occurred,” police wrote. “We encourage everyone to be respectful of the process, let the facts come to light and to refrain from inflammatory comments.”
Police declined to release other details.
