LYNNWOOD — Between 16 and 20 people were displaced Tuesday after the roof of their Lynnwood townhomes collapsed.
It happened at 3:13 p.m. Construction crews have been working on the roof of a building at the Village Townhomes in the 5700 block of 200th Street SW. Equipment was left on the roof overnight and fell through, said Lynnwood police Sgt. Sean Doty.
No one was hurt.
The hole in the roof spans the length of two townhouses, Doty said. The remaining six units in the building were closed as a safety precaution.
“They’re worried about the rest of the roof in the building and rain damage,” Doty said.
The Snohomish County Red Cross and Support Seven are helping the tenants find temporary housing.
