Students of the month: Everett High School department scholars for January are Ray Borovina (art), Shawna Held (DECA), Thu Nguyen (English language learner), Clarissa Fidler (English), Bricia Mejia (individual education), Linda Huynh (math), Jessica Griffin (music-band), Juston Cunningham (music-choir), Shawn Whetsell (PE-boy), Tania Pabisz (PE-girl), Alex Wertheimer (science), Maria Daoust (social studies), Lucas Watanabe (world language) and Thomas McDonald (marketing).

Distinguished grad: Sean Connell recently was honored as St. Mary Magdalen School’s 2005 Distinguished Graduate.

Connell is a 1990 graduate of the Catholic elementary school in Everett. He went on to attend Seattle Prep High School and graduated from Wesleyan University in 1998 where he earned a bachelor’s degree in East Asian studies.

Connell is now serving as the associate director of the U.S.-Korea Business Council in Washington D.C. Other work experience included working as a legislative assistant for then-state Reps. Aaron Reardon and Brian Sullivan.

He also is a graduate student at George Washington University and will graduate in May with a master’s degree in international affairs.
