Stewart appointed to Naval Academy
Joshua James “JJ” Stewart, a Kamiak High School senior, recently received an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy. Stewart was nominated by U.S. Rep. Rick Larsen. He also plans to play for the Navy football team.
Lake Stevens students of January

Biotech honors
Mariner High School students were among those who competed in the recent Student Biotech Expo in Bellevue, which draws together high school students from Seattle-area biology, biotechnology and molecular biology classes and allows them to present their work to each other and to the public.
Mariner student Keegan Uchacz received an honorable mention in two categories (genomics and multimedia) for his video project called “Gene Expression: The Science of Preference.” Kayla Grieco also received an honorable mention for her project in the drama category, titled “Meiosis Through Dance.”
Cassie Settle scored above average on an interview for her creative writing final project, titled “The Decision: Male or Female.”
