Matt Funk of Mountlake Terrace and Adam Huntsman of Brier received their Eagle Scout awards Sept. 20 at a Court of Honor ceremony at the Mountlake Terrace Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Funk’s parents are Kevin and Cheryl Funk. His project was to plan, build and install the materials required to renovate the gazebo at Veterans Memorial Park. The project included replacement of the gazebo roof, benches and siding, and applying preservative coatings. The park is adjacent to the Mountlake Terrace Library.
Huntsman’s parents are Mark and Tracy Huntsman. His Eagle project was to design, build and install quarter-mile markers on the trail at Candy Cane Park, also known as Terrace Creek Park. The park is located at 48th Avenue West and 232nd Street in Mountlake Terrace. The trail is the site of a flying-disc golf course. The quarter-mile markers allow trail users to identify and reference the distances and location of each hole.
Funk and Huntsman are both members of Mount Baker Boy Scouts Troop 67. The awards were presented by Scoutmaster Steven Mudaliar. Fourteen other Eagle Scouts attended the ceremony. Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Lynnwood Post 1040 presented certificates and Boy Scout belt buckles to the two new Eagle Scouts.
