SEATTLE — The owner of Seattle’s Pier 57 has applied for a city permit to build a 175-foot-high Ferris wheel.
Seattlepi.com said Great Western Pacific officials hope the wheel will draw more people to the downtown waterfront, especially during the massive tunnel project to replace the Alaskan Way viaduct.
The pier currently has an assortment of shops and restaurants along with an indoor carousel.
The public has until Nov. 19 to submit comments to the city’s Department of Planning and Development.
