SEATTLE — Seattle’s police chief has fired a 44-year-old officer after three women he met while on duty complained of unwanted advances.
The Seattle Times said Peter Leutz was dismissed Thursday. Chief Kathleen O’Toole told him in a letter that he shouldn’t have used personal information gained as an officer to “pursue romantic relationships.”
According to a disciplinary report obtained by the newspaper, the officer met the women through legitimate police interactions. The report says he later texted or called them and sent one woman at least 100 text messages, complimenting her and asking to meet in person.
The president of the Seattle Police Officers’ Guild, Ron Smith, says Leutz can appeal. He declined further comment.
A listed number for Leutz could not be found. A message left with the union in an effort to reach Leutz was not immediately returned Friday.
