50 years ago (1958)
Men of Trinity Lutheran Church were preparing for the “Chemiserie” Mother-Daughter Banquet. Practicing up on the culinary arts while wearing cloche hats were George Hurd, Jack Hollgren, Bob Phillips and Dallas Olsen. Helen Sanford would be toastmistress for the event.
Among The Herald’s Livin’ Dolls were John Richard Heath Jr. and Peter Eckrem. John was the youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. John Heath of 1525 Grand Ave. Sisters Debra Ann and Susan Lynne were proud of their baby brother. Peter was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Eckrem, 6727 Willow Rd. He had one brother, 3-year-old Kurt.
25 years ago (1983)
Patrick Keszler of Everett earned one of the highest national awards given to Army ROTC cadets, the George C. Marshall Award, which was presented annually to 300 outstanding cadets nationwide. Keszler was named the outstanding cadet at Sam Houston State University, Huntsville, Texas.
Volunteers Ellen Reid, Gay Jensen, Evelyn Henning and Ted Reep contributed more than 1,000 hours each at Josephine Sunset Home in Stanwood. They were among those receiving commendation at an appreciation tea at the home.
