50 years ago (1958)
Marguerite Frolich, member of the American Educational Theater Association, was to direct the new children’s theater program of the South Everett Youth and Community Center. She was originator and producer-director of the Everett children’s theater, the Junior Theater Guild.
A flower-arranging season would start this week’s meeting of the Marysville Garden Club at City Hall. Ethel Palmer would give basic instruction. A dessert luncheon would be served by Jessie Eckford, Claire Kuhnle and Mattie Call, hostesses.
25 years ago (1983)
Jeff Frye and Corey Olin, both 13, were among a couple dozen young people who took advantage of their spring break to get a whiff of burning rubber. Tom Haugstad of the Everett Fire Department said that the tire fire near the old Everett landfill was pretty well isolated but was expected to smolder over the weekend.
A major business park designed to attract high-tech industry to north Bothell was being planned for the Canyon Park area of North Creek Valley. The proposed business park, which could become one of the largest in the county, would occupy 200 acres northeast of the junction of I-405 and the Bothell-Everett Highway. It would be called Canyon Park Business Center.
