50 years ago (1958)
Members of the Loggers of the Everett Babe Ruth Baseball League were holding their first turnout on the Forest Park diamond. All boys between the ages of 13 and 15 and residing south of 37th Street and north of 52nd Street, including Pecks Drive, were eligible. The Loggers would be coached by Lloyd Egge.
Harriet Store was working with four Cub Scouts on automobiles they would use in their Ferryboat act in the Boy Scout Circus at Everett Memorial Stadium. The Scouts were Gregory Mackie, Robert Cockerham, Bill Giese and David Shore.
25 years ago (1983)
It was the end of an era for the Forest Service mule trains. For the past 14 years, Chuck Jenkins had been a link to the outside world for those carving trails through the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. But like those who staffed the now-abandoned lookouts, he was becoming a part of the past and was being transferred to other responsibilities.
Everett was setting the Wesco golf pace. Kirk Estie was one of the top golfers in the Western Conference. Strong performances were also coming from Chris Chandler, John Herber and Keith Krassin.
