50 years ago (1957)
The Realty Building on the northeast corner of Hewitt and Colby avenues was completely remodeled. Friedlander and Sons was having its grand opening. Located in space formerly occupied by the Owl Drug Store, the jewelry store was one of the finest in the Northwest. John and Paul Friedlander had purchased the Wallgren Jewelry Store here in 1941. Edward Impala was the store manager and Thelma Peterson was in charge of the silver department.
George Petershagen, president of the Snohomish County Insurance Agents, and Dean Loper of Everett Junior College Booster Club presented college president Fred Giles with $130 and 26 club memberships.
25 years ago (1982)
Phil Johnson was painting one of the truss bridges between Everett and Marysville. He said he discarded a hat a week and sandblasted the paint off his boots. His second-hand overalls lasted a mere two days.
Chad Fagerland was one of the many boys and girls who participated in the Everett Equinox festival. Butterflies, rainbows, Pac-Man and E.T. were the favorite themes in arts and crafts projects during the two-day fete at Forest Park.
