Dick Nerheim of Seattle, who was entering Everett Junior College to begin his freshman year, received special attention as the 1,100th full-time day student to register for classes this fall. The figure was expected to be even higher when day registration ended a week later.
25 years ago (1982)
The newest version of the 747 rolled out of Boeing’s Everett plant amid company predictions that it would extend production of the jumbo jets through the end of the century. Officially known as the 747-3000, the new jet sported a stretched upper deck accommodating up to 45 more passengers.
