50 years ago (1957)
Eleanor Richer and Sarah Skyta were in charge of the seventh annual linen chest project of the Dr. Nathan L. Thompson Orthopedic Auxiliary. The chest would be on display in J.C. Penney’s for two week. Proceeds would help support the Children’s Orthopedic Hospital in Seattle.
Howard Purves, a fourth-year carpentry apprentice enrolled in the apprenticeship program operated by Everett Junior College, recently took first place honors in the state apprenticeship contest held in Spokane.
25 years ago (1982)
Newly promoted in the Everett School District were Joanne Odegaard and Reginald Schodeller. Odegaard was the director of curriculum. She had previously worked in Mount Vernon and Iowa. Schodeller was now vice principal at Cascade High School, where she previously supervised student activities.
The Everett School Board and the Everett Park Board were discussing land swaps. Of particular interest for Park Director Chuck Logan were parcels such as Doyles Park at 35th Street and Grand Avenue. Port Gardner Association chair Steve Burr said the one-acre site was heavily used by neighborhood children.
