50 years ago (1957)
City officials, along with Chamber of Commerce president Leo Mullen, were on hand when the first of the new poles was erected alongside the City Hall. Following its installation several others went up along Colby Avenue and more would be put in place as they arrived.
Joining the faculty of Everett Junior college this fall were three instructors whose major teaching assignments would be in the fields of psychology and sociology. They were Gordon Scribner of Edmonds, Jeanette Poore coming from Moses Lake, and David Karber of Seattle.
25 years ago (1982)
George Stocker, assistant manager at the Evergreen State Fair in Monroe, was presented a belt buckle from the 4-H dog department for his support in its development and remodeling project.
Marine Bruce Rapp of Lynnwood recently was promoted to the rank of sergeant while serving on Okinawa. And in the Air Force, Staff Sgt. Shari Braden of Marysville had earned an associate degree in applied science from the Community College of the Air Force.
