50 years ago (1964)
John Wilson was elected president of Snohomish County Bar Association for 1965 at the organization’s last luncheon meeting at the Cascade Club. He would succeed Joe Brinster. Named to serve with Wilson were Levy Johnston, vice president; Paul Hansen, treasurer, and Efram Agranoff, secretary.
Sgt Jay Harvey of the state patrol nudged a reluctant traveler along the trestle yesterday. In fact state troopers and county deputies turned cowboys with a cattle drive to move between 600 and 700 head of cattle off Ebey Island due to flooding.
25 years ago (1989)
About 75 people marched from Grand Avenue Park to the county courthouse yesterday to further the awareness of the AIDS crisis. At one point in the program Kyle Stevenson bowed his head in memory of those afflicted with AIDS.
Rollan Carstensen flocked a Christmas tree at his Top of the Hill nursery in Alderwood Manor yesterday. He said he would flock more than 500 this year. A large tree could take 25 minutes to flock plus another eight to 10 hours to dry. Although he only did white, his wife Budeen and children would decide about their family tree.
