50 years ago (1957)
Ruth La Grandeur played host to the Whittier Garden Club’s meeting. Assisting La Grandeur were Jeanne Oswald, June Rowett and Patricia Tuerk. All members were expected to bring a guest. A talk would be given on begonias and fuchsias.
John Platt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Platt, would have a major role in the Evergreen Council’s John F. Stevens trek into the Cascades. Platt, who was at Culver Military Academy, would be working with Jack Sheraton to keep the hikers supplied with everything they needed.
25 years ago (1982)
The Everett City Council took a major step toward creating a new street in the city. Actually it would rename parts of four existing streets. Marine View Drive would replace parts of Norton Avenue, Alverson Boulevard, Walnut Street and E. Grand Avenue.
Bayshore Photography had begun full-time operation in Stanwood. The studio had been operating part-time on Camano Island, but it extended its operations to five days a week. The studio did portrait and wedding photography and restored old photographs. They offered free portraits of children on their birthday. Dennis Heaton was the owner.
