Dorothy Gall was to speak at the meeting of the Riverview Camp Fire Leaders Association at her home at 2015 Wetmore Ave. Assisting the hostess was Margaret Brophy.
Marysville High School instructor Bob Branford was selected for a John Hay Whitney Foundation scholarship at Columbia University, according to an announcement this week by Superintendent Bob Bates and Principal Lawrence Gibson. Branford taught English and social studies for the freshman class, in addition to being the boys counselor.
25 years ago (1982)
The Snohomish County PUD was considering spending $10 million more this year to help thousands of customers insulate their homes. The program was part of a regional effort by the Bonneville Power Administration to provide new conservation incentives to save energy throughout the Northwest.
Becky Fleming scored a game-high 32 points to lead Stanwood to a 64-54 victory over Sedro-Woolley and its first-ever Northwest League girls basketball title. Stanwood won the title on the last night of league play. Sedro-Woolley fell into a tie with Arlington and Burlington for second place. League officials had to produce a tie-breaking formula.
