50 years ago (1955)
Phil Zalesky, and Everett High School teacher and vice president of the Federation of Western Outdoor Clubs, addressed the Everett Kiwanis Club at the Elks Home. He told of the importance of a wilderness area planned around Glacier Peak and showed pictures of its primitive beauty.
Anita Papritz, homecoming queen for Everett High School the year before, was repeating her role at Everett Junior College as Queen of Troy for the college homecoming. Princesses in her court were Charlotte Hublou, Mary Lou Hogland, Charlotte Bailey and Gladys Jones.
25 years ago (1980)
Pioneer First Federal Savings Association was having a grand opening and Halloween party at its new Arlington branch. Employees were Jim Janus, Lila Fulfs, Vicki Koster and Karen MacKinnon.
Once again this year, Sue Hegnes was decorating her home west of Marysville on the Tulalip Reservation for Halloween. Among items on her property were nine monsters, including a 7-foot Frankenstein clutching a life-sized bride wearing a wedding dress. Kids flocked to see her displays.
