50 years ago (1955)
A picnic for classmates of the Marysville schools of early days was scheduled at Veterans Memorial Park. Many were in the school prior to 1905. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Shoultes of Everett were organizing the event, assisted by Violet Guy, Ethie Plant and Mary Walter. Serving on the committee were Claude Beaman, Frank Lockhart, John Geddes, Elmer Schaeffer, Asa Triber and Milford Carr.
Pollard’s at 2724 Wetmore Ave. had locks, keys and bicycles. They could also fit keys to car doors, trunks and ignition switches. Keys could be duplicated in one minute.
25 years ago (1980)
Petitions with 300 signatures seeking bus service were given to Community Transit by residents of Startup, Gold Bar and Index. Community meetings would determine what bus services the towns along U.S. 2 would need. Approval was given to route and schedule changes in September that would include service to Silvana for the first time.
Sea Galley at 7601 Evergreen Way in the Cascade Center was open. Dinners featuring seafood and prime rib started at $4.95 and included a 14-item salad bar and baked potato.
