50 years ago (1955)
The Snohomish County District Dental Society made arrangements for a picnic dinner at the cottage of Dr. and Mrs. Leonard Batdorf at Warm Beach. Dr. and Mrs. Carroll Jacobson were cosponsoring the event. Those attending were to contact Dr. Lyle Ostlund.
W. Doyle Watt was elected to the National Board of the YMCA, announced Clare Dobler, president of the Everett YMCA. Locally, Watt was co-chairman of the endowment committee with Dan Duryee and Leslie Cooper. Paul Peterson and William Carpenter also were on the committee.
25 years ago (1980)
The Evergreen Council of the Boy Scouts of America held its 64th annual recognition dinner. Four men were awarded the Silver Beaver for noteworthy service. They were George Marchand, chairman of the Tillikum District; Don Staty, a member of the executive board and chairman of the committee making improvements at Fire Mountain Scout Reservation; Edward Carpenter, executive board member; and Jack McCulley, Tyee District chairman.
Barbara Mallory, a graduate of Marysville-Pilchuck High School, was going to attend the University of Puget Sound in the fall on a four-year college-sponsored merit scholarship. She was the daughter of Frank Mallory of McRae Road in Arlington.
