50 years ago (1954)
Charles Ingram and his Mutual of Omaha agency wished Everett an enjoyable holiday season. Others with the firm were Madge Cook, Mildred Glover, Edna Hadley, Al Polesky, Ida Birks, Joe Cowan, Phyllis Cowan and Myrtle Matthews.
Santa and his reindeer were flying high at the Harley May home at 2716 Virginia Ave. The outdoor decoration was fashioned by Ronald May, 15. He was making his debut in that type of art.
25 years ago (1979)
Tom Forgey of Duvall gave Everett its tallest Christmas tree. The tree itself was only 15 feet tall, but it was suspended 180 feet in the air. The lighted tree sat atop a crane being used to erect the new 10-story Wall Street Building. The building was eight stories.
Pay ‘n’ Save was having a sale supporting a local industry, Scott Paper Co. At bargain prices were rolls of Waldorf tissue, Viva paper towels, Viva designer napkins and Scotties facial tissue. The savings were available at the downtown store, 2711 Colby Ave.; south Everett store, 4920 Evergreen Way; and Marysville Plaza store.
