50 years ago (1954)
The 1955 Chevrolet would be on display at Sevenich Motors Co. in Everett and Poier Motors Inc. in Snohomish. New Pontiacs also would be in the showrooms of Simpson Pontiac in Everett and Hume Pontiac in Snohomish. Both had new valve-in-head V-8 engines.
Everett Distributing was the new distributor for Heidelberg beer. Wilmer Dusenberry was president, Joe Woelfert was sales representative, Helen Wayland was clerk and bookkeeper, and route salesmen were Abe Estie, Douglas Bolzer and Walter Trandum.
25 years ago (1979)
Newland Construction of Everett recently received two contracts totaling more than $12 million for the new Safeco Insurance Building in Redmond and the Frederick &Nelson department store at Everett Mall. Other projects the firm was working on were for Kohkoku, Bank of Everett, Skagit Valley Hospital and Wold Hardware.
Construction began on a $4.1 million business park next to Boeing’s Everett plant at 44th Avenue and Casino Road. It was a development of the Quadrant Corp., a subsidiary of Weyerhaeuser.
