50 years ago (1954)
Nine drivers for H.O. Seiffert received safety awards at the company’s annual Christmas party. Honored were Walt Bartel, Ray Reed, Wes Bjorklund, Robert Thomas, Joe McDonald, Bill McDonald, Z. Swanson, James Keefe and Louis Larson. Roy Sievers, company president, handed out the awards.
Representing the Camp Fire organization, members of the Little Maidens Bluebird group gathered to give gifts to children hospitalized during the holiday season. Taking part in the ceremonies were Janet Skaare, Jill Hilton, Kathleen Moe, Mitzi Sand, Mary Jo McGinty, Jane Marie Gall, Virginia Baker, Martha Nesse, Lynette Luthens, Shirley McDonald and Robin Hilton.
25 years ago (1979)
The feverish Everett-Seattle housing market cooled substantially during the year, even before tight credit conditions put a pinch on mortgage loans. Still, residential building in Snohomish County was up 15 percent during the first nine months of 1979, compared with the same period in 1978.
Realty Consultants recently opened a branch office on Avenue D in Snohomish. Fifteen full-time agents staffed the office under branch manager Michael Hughes and assistant sales manager Paul Anderson. Hours were 9 a.m.-9 p.m., seven days a week.
