50 years ago (1954)
Everett was about to get 155 new citizens. City commissioners passed an ordinance that would annex about three acres, most of it owned by the Olympic Motel on the southwest corner of 52nd Street and Highway 99 S. (Evergreen Way). It was the second annexation in the city’s history and the first in many years.
N. Broadway advertisers were Everett Vacuum Sales &Service at 2318 Broadway, Judd &Black, Hank Gaul’s at 19th Street and Broadway where you could shop in a casual manner, Reudi’s Record Center with Angel and Cook long plays, Davis-White distributors of Glassheat, Norrie Hardware &Variety, Pitzer Paint &Wallpaper, Thriftway, Carter Drug Store and Duffy Drugs.
25 years ago (1979)
Susan Trent, a junior at Edmonds High School, was selected to participate in the “America’s Youth in Concert” program. She would perform in New York, London, Paris, Rome and Geneva. Trent played clarinet.
Lisa Delker, the 1979 Northwest Junior Rodeo Queen, was to appear at the Alderwood Manor Youth Club rodeo.
