50 years ago (1954)
Louise Taylor, charter member of the Everett Zonta Club, was honored at its 25th anniversary at Waldheim’s Dining Room. Seattle and Bellingham club members also attended. Marian Clark was president. The Mothersingers, directed by Kathleen Boynton, provided music.
A benefit dance for C.R. “Hap” Larsen of Snohomish, superintendent of Road District No. 3, would be held at Kinney’s Barn, north of Snohomish. Larsen recently underwent major surgery. The hall was donated by L.E. Kinney.
25 years ago (1979)
Brett C. Thomas, a junior majoring in biology at Washington State University, was elected president of the WSU Interfraternity Council. A 1976 Everett High School graduate, Thomas was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Thomas, 620 Warren St. He was vice president of Acacia fraternity and past vice president of the Western Regional Interfraternity Conference, involving colleges and universities throughout the western United States.
Five Everett students received their bachelor’s degrees at Gonzaga University’s commencement exercises. They were Mary Mallahan, Michael Murphy, Curt Rettenmier, James Hagglund and Leo Trask.
