50 years ago (1954)
One of the Pacific Northwest’s largest food stores, Frank Wald’s Foodland in Mountlake Terrace, was opening. It was located in the Town &Country Plaza Shopping Center. As part of the opening a 1,000-pound cake had been baked. Other stores to open soon were Town &Country Plaza Drug, C&H Plaza Super Market and Plaza Hardware.
25 years ago (1979)
Everett City Council President Stewart Aldcroft said he would run for re-election in the fall. Mayor Bill Moore said Aldcroft’s leadership made his own job less complicated. Aldcroft was terminal agent for Burlington Northern Railroad, where he had worked for 33 years.
Asia Gardens at 4730 196th in Lynnwood was having a 14k gold grand opening with Fant-Asia Disco Dance Contest. The restaurant promised superb Chinese and American cuisine.
