Virginia Miller, service chairwoman of Everett Soroptimist Club, presented a scholarship to Ingeborg Fjosne to attend the Everett General Hospital School of Nursing. A similar award was presented to Dorene Woinowsky for the Providence Hospital School of Nursing.
The Colonist Group of Pioneer Girls held its first meeting at First Baptist Church. Members met with pilots Kathy Vail and Dorothy Fisk.
The Everett Community College men’s team finished third and the women’s team finished fourth in the Bellevue Community College Invitational cross-country meet at Seward Park in Seattle. Rick McManus was Everett’s top men’s finisher, and Mary Madsen was Everett’s top women’s finisher.
The Edmonds School Board approved the sale of a 30-acre site for $772,000 to Winmar Co. for residential development. Most of the money would be applied to the district’s building fund, said Bob Brown, supervisor of planning. The land, adjacent to Meadowdale Junior High School, was view property for about 90 homes.
