A helicopter hung over Highway 99 as part of a crackdown on unsafe drivers. Working in conjunction with a patrol car, the helicopter hovered over the Paine Field crossing. Its main job was to spot slow drivers who created traffic hazards by holding up long strings of cars on high-speed routes such as Highway 99.
Burnett Bros. Jewelers was having a no-cash trade-in watch event. Major brands included Bulova, Wittnauer, Gruen, Longines, Hamilton, Elgin and Omega. The sale was also going on at Burnett’s stores in Northgate and Seattle.
Fans of early 20th-century writing — from literature to nonfiction — or those who simply enjoyed the sense of history one feels while reading a book with a battered binding and yellowed pages would find plenty to choose from at the Everett Public Library. The entire collection had been reorganized, and staff member Lois Meyers said the old books had much literary value.
Denali Sports at 2911 Hewitt Ave. was having its third annual moonlight sale, with 20 percent off everything in the store. The all-new stock included ski, backpacking, climbing, winter and wool clothing.
