50 years ago (1963)
Admiring novelties that would be available at the Everett Garden Club’s Bells of Christmas Holiday Show were Louise Dobler, show chair, and Catherine Pierce, in charge of swags and wreaths. One of the most popular features of the holiday exhibit was the attractive array of materials and home decorations available for purchase.
World War I Veterans Auxiliary No. 132 held its bazaar and bake sale at Normanna Hall earlier this week. Tessa Sachs was initiated and reports were given on the bazaar by Vervilla Jensen and Ann Francy. Ingeborg Fredrickson was planning visits to shut-ins.
25 years ago (1988)
Ticket sales for the Everett Symphony-Olympic Ballet Nutcracker matinee and performances Dec. 17 reportedly were brisk. This year all seats were assigned, which people should buy tickets early.
Something different in the way of entertainment was a “Night of the Spoken Arts” program at Snohomish High School. Readings of poetry and stories, including original works and storytelling combined for a refreshingly enjoyable evening.
