50 years ago (1963)
After 39 years of golfing, Shark Davis came up with the perfect shot. He dropped in his tee shot for a hole-in-one at the 12th hole at the Everett Golf and Country Club.
Evelyn Tiffany, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Tiffany of Stanwood, was awarded the Camp Fire Girls organization’s highest honor, the national torch for social leadership. She was a member of Girls Club. G.A.A. and drill team at her high school.
25 years ago (1988)
Burgeoning growth in the city had created a three-month backlog in land-use cases that were argued before hearing examiner Jim Driscoll, according to planning director Dennis Derickson. He added that the volume would increase with hearings about code enforcement actions.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency was conducting a hearing on a petition filed four years ago by the Seven Lakes Water Assocaition asking that the water beneath the area be designated as the sole source of drinking water for 46,900 people. The Tulalip Aquifer was believed to extend north of Everett to the Stillaguamish River.
