50 years ago (1964)
Adult student art was on display in the north window of Davis Stationary in Marysville, the work of pupils of Monday night classes taught by instructor Kenneth Wise at Marysville Junior High. The works were by Evelyn Bradford, Robert Henault, Kay Hosterman, Gail Evans, Elene Moll, Bessie Swanson, Sylvia Wales and Mildred Bierman.
Bright Yule items intrigued Judy Sanford, Nancy Scheller and Kathy Beselin as they looked over toys, aprons, candles, decorations, wreaths, swags, bird feeders, embroidery work and more. The items would be for sale at the Mukilteo Presbyterian Church bazaar of “Christmas Treasures.”
25 years ago (1989)
J. Gregory Shaffer was participating in the Washington Semester Program at the American University in Washington, D.C. Shaffer attended Santa Clara University and was serving as an intern in Rep. Al Swift’s office.
Jim Barker, a welder for Pilchuck Mechanical Inc., worked on diverting a gas line from the water damaged buildings on the 2800 block of Hoyt Ave. Sparks flew as Barker worked. Co-worker Otis Gulley stood nearby with a fire extinguisher in case a spark met gas.
