Give: Volunteers of America needs help
This holiday season there are several ways to give to Volunteers of America Western Washington.
The Volunteers of America Everett Food Bank, 1230 Broadway in Everett, feeds more than 5,000 people each month. Food donations are accepted from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
For every dollar donated to the Food Bank, Volunteers of America can purchase $6 worth of food.
Donations of money, hygiene products, books, school supplies and volunteer help are also needed to support Volunteers of America Housing and Transitional Services and three preschools for low-income families.

Volunteer: Agency looking for directors
Village Community Services is recruiting volunteers with expertise in finance, manufacturing, or special education to sit on its board of directors.
The nonprofit agency is located in Arlington and helps people with disabilities who live or work in north Snohomish County. The Village Community Services’ board meets at 6:30 p.m. the last Tuesday of the month.

Give: Benefit for slain police officers
The Everett Original Roadhouse Grill restaurant will host a day-long fundraiser on Saturday for the families of five King and Pierce county police officers killed in the line of duty.
All proceeds from the event will go to families of four Lakewood police officers and the family of Timothy Brenton of Marysville, who was a Seattle police officer.
The Original Roadhouse Grill will be open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and is located at 11804 Evergreen Way in Everett.

Donate: Library collecting diapers
Staff at the Everett Public Library recently decided to collect diapers for the Everett Gospel Mission Shelter.
Donation of disposable diapers or baby wipes can be dropped off at the main branch of the Everett Public Library, 2707 Hoyt or the Evergreen Branch, 9512 Evergreen Way until the end of the month.
“Last year we had a hat and mitten tree, and gave the donated items to the at the end of December,” said Eileen Simmons, director of the Everett Library. “After reading about the need at the shelter, staff decided to make that our holiday donation focus.”
The diapers will be taken to the Everett Gospel Mission’s Women and Children’s shelter throughout the donation period.

Eat: Terrace to host Santa breakfast
The Mountlake Terrace High School Music Boosters will host it annual Breakfast with Santa from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday in the MTHS Hub, 21801 44th Ave. W. in Mountlake Terrace.
The pancakes, eggs and sausage breakfast is $4 for students and seniors and $6 for adults. Holiday digital pictures with or without Santa will be produced on-site for $6 to $8. Tickets will be sold at the door.
Proceeds benefit the school’s music program.
