50 years ago (1964)
Ted Pitcher said his company, Clark Distributing Co., had outgrown its current location at 2012 36th St. and was to build a new $92,000, 18,000 square foot distributing plant and warehouse at 2202 36th St.
It was a rough, muddy six-mile stretch from Arlington to Darrington, but people who used the road felt the mess was worth the end product — a new ribbon of straighter blacktop to replace the narrow, winding, bumpy strip of chuckholes now in existence. Farmer Jack Snelson would have a peephole under the grade so his cattle could get back to the barn without crossing the highway.
25 years ago (1989)
Rolling Stones fans camped next door to Carousel Music on Colby Ave. waiting to buy tickets today. Among them were Mike Henry, Terry Iverson, Sam Welch, Larry Allred and Juan Padron, Everett; Chris Brixey and Tom Butler, Mukilteo, and Irene Gilbert, Arlington.
Bruce Hansen was building his Everett community College men’s soccer team on a strong local prep foundation as it wound up preseason play. The players included defender and team captain Corey Ingebretsen, Cascade; midfielder Todd Biddle, Mountlake Terrace, and forward Terry O’Malley, Edmonds.
