SNOHOMISH — An 8-year-old autistic boy was rescued out of the Pilchuck River this morning after he wandered from his house.
Snohomish police and fire crews responded to look for the boy after his mom called 911 to report him missing, Snohomish police Cmdr. Fred Havener said.
She discovered the boy was missing around 10:15 a.m., he said.
Crews including help from the Snohomish County sheriff’s office fanned out around the city to look for him.
The boy was located after about 40 minutes of searching, Havener said. He walked into the river and a firefighter went after him.
“This was a great example of the teamwork that our three departments enjoy,” Snohomish Police Chief John Turner said.
