SPOKANE — Spokane Community College is investigating two professors, one of whom is accused of making sexist and racist comments in class.
The Spokesman-Review reported that criminal justice professors Gary Johns and Department chairman Mike Prim did not return calls for comment.
A complaint filed with the school’s Title IX office says the two professors attempted to discipline a student after she spoke up in Prim’s human relations class about his comments on women’s roles, abortion and pregnancy.
The complaint also refers to a comment Prim made about racism, among other incidents.
Community Colleges of Spokane Title IX coordinator and chief administration officer Greg Stevens says the internal investigation could be completed by April.
College administrators will use the findings of the investigation to determine any disciplinary action.
