SPOKANE — A Spokane County deputy prosecutor suspected of an improper relationship with a jail inmate, including giving him a photo of herself in a bikini, has resigned.
Marriya Wright had been on administrative leave since April while under suspicion of rendering criminal assistance.
The Spokesman-Review reports she turned in her resignation Wednesday. She has not been charged.
Officials say she exchanged hundreds of text messages earlier this year with Matthew Baumrucker and met with him in the attorney-client room of the Spokane County Jail.
Baumrucker had been wanted in drug and assault cases and remains in jail facing a federal charge of being felon in possession of a firearm. He has several tattoos on the face including the word “criminal” on his forehead.
