STANWOOD — Mayor Leonard Kelley has been chosen as the new chairman of the board of directors for Community Transit.
Kelley has been on the board since 2014 and served as vice chairman last year, according to a news release. The board sets policy, goals and approves the budget for the transit agency. There are 10 members. Nine are elected leaders from Snohomish County or cities served by Community Transit.
Kelley was voted in as chairman Feb. 1.
The Public Transportation Benefit Area for Community Transit includes more than 540,000 people.
