The ice may look nice, but Snohomish County officials are warning people not to venture onto frozen lakes.
A year ago Seth James, 15, drowned when he fell through ice into the freezing waters of Martha Lake.
Persistent sub-freezing temperatures in recent days is causing ice to form again on area lakes, ponds and storm water impoundments.
“Venturing onto the ice is dangerous and can even be deadly,” Snohomish County Fire District 1 spokeswoman Leslie Hynes said.
Night time temperatures are forecast to remain below freezing into the weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Seattle.
