WHIDBEY ISLAND — The Island County Sheriff’s Office is warning people about a rash of burglaries on the north end of Whidbey Island.
The burglars have been knocking on doors during the daytime and breaking into homes when no one answers, Sheriff Mark Brown said. They are going after small items such as jewelry, cash and gold. They also target homes that are isolated from neighbors and have limited security.
Brown reminds people to lock their homes and keep jewelry in a safe place. Neighbors should call police if suspicious people are knocking on doors with no apparent reason, he said.
