KENT — A 16-year-old boy was in critical condition at a Seattle hospital Thursday after he was hit by a car in a crosswalk in front of Kent-Meridian High School.
He was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where hospital spokeswoman Susan Gregg said he was in critical condition on Thursday morning.
School officials say classes were not in session at the time of the crash and few students were on campus.
Kent Police told KOMO-TV that preliminary reports suggest the 22-year-old driver was speeding as he drove into the school parking lot. Investigators say he lost control of the car and struck the student in a crosswalk.
The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and was later arrested for investigation of vehicular assault.
