LYNNWOOD — An Edmonds Community College student was stabbed and robbed on the Lynnwood campus Tuesday morning.
The student, a 22-year-old Lynnwood man, was treated and released from a local hospital, Lynnwood police spokeswoman Shannon Sessions said.
The robbery happened about 9:30 a.
m. in a first-floor bathroom at Alderwood Hall. An unknown man approached the student, stabbed him and took cash from him, Sessions said. The man was last seen running from campus.
A police dog search for the man was unsuccessful.
The man is described as thin, black and in his early 20s, Sessions said. He has a shaved head or a very short haircut. He’s believed to have been wearing a black shirt and a blue and white plaid jacket.
Pepper spray also was used in the robbery, college spokeswoman Michelle Graves said.
This is the first time in 10 years that there has been an assault on campus with a weapon involved, she said. Typically, three security officers and a student who works with them patrol campus during the school day until late at night.
Increased security patrols were planned for Tuesday night, she said.
The police investigation is ongoing, Sessions said. Anyone with information about the case should call investigators at 425-670-5600.
