Call it a weather streak.
Everett and Snohomish County is in the longest stretch of the year of sunny or clear days. And it’s been mildly warm to boot — with highs of 69 degrees the past three days and a high of 72 forecast for Saturday.
The streak is expected to top out at four days, though, as increasing clouds and a low of 57 degrees is expected Saturday night. Sunday is predicted to be mostly cloudy with a high near 66 degrees.
The next sunny streak is predicted to begin Monday and last through Thursday, said Johnny Burg, a meteorologist with National Weather Service in Seattle.
“Next week we could see mostly sunny skies and temperatures into the 70s,” he said. “That whole few day streak will be broken if not by this weekend then by next week.”
At the Mukilteo waterfront Friday, Sam Sokvann of Everett helped his 8-year-old and 11-year-old nephews place small earthworms on their fishing pole hooks.
“If it’s sunny, we’re out,” Sokvann said.
Three hours and two catches later, they had bait for their crabpots and looked forward to the next sunny day to do it again.
“I really hope it lasts,” Sokvann said. “But this is Washington.”
